His death hit hard for me.... i wasnt in a good place mentally, when this episode aired, and when he made his final speech and dropped into the snake pit my heart just sank. It was such an incredible scene. Travis Fimmel is a very gifted actor and i wish he was more active in the industry. He is a very different kind of human being, it seems..... and we need more actors like him.

I love the show, but the history channel has taken many liberties. Ragnar himself most likely was not ever a king nor any of his children some of the saga indicate that Segard may have been king of Denmark, and the Bjorn may have been a chieftain in some areas known now as Sweden, but unfortunately, all of this is just storytelling. There is no recorded history of any of this until hundreds of years after the fact. Not to mention that the character Rollo is supposed to be was not related to Ragnar or any of the other sons and came much later in time, but did settle the area known as Holland and his great great great grandson did rule on the throne of England as william

Ragnar only wanted to control his own fate, that’s why he accepted his death because it was on his terms, he died the day after the blind man saw him, not the day of. And knew his death would bring his son’s wrath to wreak havoc and get Ragnars revenge for the farmers and village in England

I wish Ragnar would have gone with Bjorne, they could have conquered Rome, not just traded with it
